What do you tell people when they ask what you do?

At Advocate Radiation Oncology, we provide compassionate health care expertise to cancer patients with a focus on radiation therapy. We work closely with patients and their entire oncology team to develop a personalized treatment plan that maximizes the chances for success while minimizing the impact on their daily lives.

How did you come to start this business?

We started this business because we saw a need for a locally owned and operated practice that sincerely puts the patient first. We focus on providing the most innovative radiation therapy available, delivered by top-tier doctors. Our name is at the heart of who we are; we feel that every patient deserves a true advocate throughout their treatment journey.

Why do patients choose you over your competitors?

Advocate offers a team of world-class, board-certified physicians, state-of-the-art technology and a true dedication to the well-being of every individual who walks through our doors. We will not spare any measure to be certain that every patient feels genuinely cared for in the hands of our experts. As the only locally owned and operated radiation oncology practice in Southwest Florida, our team of radiation oncologists and staff has deep roots in this community.

What can our readers expect new from your business in 2023?

We’re honored to be establishing the first state-of-the-art proton therapy center on Florida’s west coast, which will give cancer patients improved access to the most advanced radiation care available. Proton therapy has been proven effective for the treatment of many common cancers. The machine uses proton beams to target tumors and cancer cells more precisely.

Given their size, complexity and cost, there are a limited number of proton therapy centers around the country, so Advocate Radiation Oncology is especially proud to bring this world-class cancer care to the region. Our new 5,000-square-foot proton therapy center will serve the greater population of Southwest Florida in a centralized location between Lee and Collier counties.

What is one thing people should know about your business?

Patients at Advocate Radiation Oncology have access to the most advanced technology available, including Southwest Florida’s first Halcyon radiotherapy system at our Cape Coral office, which uses image-guided radiotherapy to deliver cancer treatment with precision, comfort and significantly enhanced speed. The Halcyon helps cut down a patient’s treatment time, while delivering extremely precise treatment for many forms of cancer.

Additionally, we are one of the first practices in the nation to offer Varian’s Identify platform for surface-guided radiation therapy. This allows us to use a surface rendering of a patient’s body with real-time monitoring. This technology gives us the capabilities to deliver radiation using a breath-holding technique to minimize any heart dose during the treatment of left-sided breast cancers.

How is Advocate Radiation Oncology expanding across South Florida?

Advocate Radiation Oncology currently serves patients from five offices in Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Port Charlotte, Tamarac and Bonita Springs. We are proud to continue our growth across the region and look forward to serving more patients as we open a sixth location in Naples later this year. Our new Naples office will be at 1775 Davis Blvd. near the intersection of Davis Boulevard and U.S. 41 East.

What are three adjectives that describe your employees?

Intuitive, caring and passionate. Our employees know that they come to work every day for a mission-driven organization that is truly making a difference in people’s lives. ¦
